Microsoft 365 Pricing Change in March 2022

Microsoft 365 Price Change in 2022

Microsoft recently announced that its Office 365 pricing will increase on March 1, 2022. This will be the first Microsoft 365 price change since 2011 when Microsoft launched Office 365. Microsoft is not alone; IT costs on the whole have been increasing. With increased cyber threats, hardware shortages and internal staffing issues, companies need to do more and more to keep their networks up to date and their employees productive.

As a managed service provider, SkyTerra Technologies purchases licenses for programs like Microsoft 365 for businesses and then rolls those costs into a monthly fixed fee. That way, businesses have predictable costs. As license fee changes like this happen, the result is a higher monthly SkyTerra invoice, which we take seriously.

Note: The price increase is currently only for commercial licenses. There is no current plan to change consumer or education license prices.

New Microsoft 365 Pricing as of March 2022

Here’s how the Office 365 pricing will break down when it is implemented in March 2022. Keep in mind, these are commercial list prices and local market adjustments may be applied to some regions:

  • Microsoft 365 Business Basic will be $6 per user (was $5)
  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium will be $22 per user (was $20)
  • Office 365 E1 will be $10 per user (was $8)
  • Office 365 E3 will be $23 per user (was $20)
  • Office 365 E5 will be $38 per user (was $35)
  • Microsoft 365 E3 will be $36 per user (was $32)

Additional Features and Capabilities

In their announcement, Microsoft points out how many more features and services Office 365 has in comparison to when it launched 10 years ago. Additional features are on the horizon for next year if they have not already been released and include, but are not limited to the following: Access, Bookings, Delve, Forms, GroupMe, Kaizala, Lens, List, OneDrive, Planner, Power Apps, Publisher, Sharepoint, Stream, Teams, To-Do and Whiteboard.

Microsoft 365 Pricing Matrix and Self Service Portal Tool

SkyTerra is currently developing an interactive Microsoft 365 pricing matrix and self service portal. The new online tools will be free to use and make it easy for customers to self select pricing and easily compare pricing for different Microsoft products. Want to get the inside scoop?
